CLEEN Foundation in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Nigerian Army Human Rights Desk Office organized a twelve weeks radio program on civil-military relation in Borno State. The programme commenced in September through December 2019. The objective of the radio program was, in one hand, to sensitize the victims and witnesses of human rights abuse by the personnel’s of the armed forces on the channels to report their grievances. In another hand, it was also a platform to sensitize members of the armed forces on the rules of engagement during counter-insurgency operations in North-East Nigeria. The radio programmes were broadcast in English, Pidgin, Hausa and Kanuri languages to enable audience understand the message of guest speakers. Members of the public were given the opportunity to join the programme by way of phone in and asking questions with regards to the human rights desk office of the Nigerian Army.
Stakeholders and resource persons from various works of life contributed immensely to the success of this program. Worthy to mention include: Civil society organization, National Human Right Commission, National Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, Public Complaints Commission, National Orientation Agency, representatives from IDPs camps.
